Their starters and some unexpected eggs obtained, the new trainers continued on their journey. Geb waddled a little behind, and Almeda's neck was starting to cramp as she continuously spun her head round to assure he was still there. Although every time she looked, he was there, in the center of the path, half his tongue sticking out of his mouth, waddling intently. Nevertheless, Allie let the side of her mouth twitch in irritation as she called up to Ignatius, "Ignatius, wait up."
Ignatius was revved and ready to go. He turned and continued running backwards, and chuckled at Chili, doing the same.
"Charmander!"[/b] she said to her trainer, and though he didn't understand, he appreciated the support before replying to Al.
"Aw, come on Al. Put the Bulbasaur back into his pokeball or something, we've gotta get moving now that there's a whole series of gyms, caves and contests for us to explore!"[/b] He tripped on a rock and landed on his rear, looking no more dejected than before. Chili came up beside him and squeezed the side of his arm with her tiny hands, and Ignatius blushed as he thanked her with a tap on the bottom of her chin.
Almeda slumped, "Come on now. That isn't fair. The gyms aren't moving and besides, neither you nor Chili would be up for anything like that just now anyway. We should battle each other if we're not going to graze the area for wild pokemon."
"Basaur!" Geb called, having arrived at Almeda's feet in the moments that she hadn't been looking back for him. She smiled at her pokemon until she realized that this noise hadn't been a greeting, but rather a warning for an odd shape disturbing the flora across the path.

From above the two trainers came a loud and obnoxious squawk. "Spea! Spear, spearow! <Ha! You're pathetic!>" a Spearow screeched, diving down to collide with a Tailow that was flying as fast as her wings could carry her. As the two bird Pokemon collided, the gray and red Tailow sailed down, through the bushes on the side of the trail, before landing rather unnaturally on the ground in front of the two humans. Her wings beat frantically to carry her up again, and both Pokemon froze as they noticed the pair. "Spea spearow! <Lookie there!>" the Spearow growled. He landed on the ground and glared at the Pokemon with the trainers. "Spea spear spearow spear. <A couple o' tame Pokemon.>" He stared at the Charmander and Bulbasaur with little interest, except that of a Pokemon ready for a fight. The Tailow just watched them warily, clearly willing to battle, but at the same time slightly tired from her fight with the Spearow. A Tailow and a Spearow have appeared! What will you do?

"Charrr..." Chili growled, tiptoeing closer to the flying pokemon. <Tame?> she questioned, tauntingly.
Ignatius eyes lit up for a moment and he too stepped towards the bickering duo, whom resembled Al and himself in their obvious connection. He grinned and swiped a hand through his slick hair. Almeda rolled her eyes and looked down at Geb and asked the little guy, "You ready for our first challenge?"
"Ba ..."[/b] Geb burped. Seeming unenthusiastic, what he actually meant was, <Why must we fight?>
"Man,"[/b] huffed the Charmander, unimpressed with the hippy of a grass pokemon. <Humanitarian*.>
"Alright, Al, I'm calling the Taillow," Ignatius exclaimed before stomping one foot forward, "You ready to support me as I order Chili to attack?"
"Right behind you, Ignatius,"[/b] Almeda assured before ordering, "Geb, Leech Seed that team!"
"Ba ... saur,"[/b] blurted Geb, waddling in the direction of the wild pokemon. <If you insist.> He stopped not too far form where he had started and spurted seeds from the bud on his back with surprising power in the direction of his opponents.
"Chili, get the Taillow while it's landed, Scratch attack!"[/b] Ignatius encouraged. Chili simply buzzed with anticipation and even dropped to all fours in attempts to boost her speed and reach her opponent before she became airborne. Ignatius was pleased to see the enthusiasm of his pokemon and snickered in regards to Geb. Almeda was pleased with Geb's obedience and worried about Chili's enthusiasm for violence.
((* Or whatever the pokemon equivalent word would be for humanitarian. I didn't use poketarian as it just sounds like the equivalent to vegetarian ... and that just isn't right.))

"Spea spearow! <Nice try!>" the Spearow cackled, jumping into the air and away from the seeds. A few had hit his wing, making it quite sore, but he wasn't about to show it. He rose in the air and circled for a moment before diving back down at the tiny grass Pokemon. He flew around it, wings flapping in an attempt to confuse it, and used Peck. The Tailow, meanwhile, was left alone. She watched the Spearow's fight for a moment before she was attacked head on by the Charmander. "Tai! <Ow!>" she cried, wings flapping frantically to bring her back into the air where she would be better in battle. "Tai, tailow! <Watch it!>" She rose a foot in the air before landing a few feet away and glaring at the Charmander using Growl.

Chili shook her head, her hands on the sides of her face as she did her best to will away the agitation put up by the Growl attack. Geb smiled in what could be described as a maniacal way, appreciating the apparent peace loving instincts the Taillow contained. It was during this distraction that Geb took the Peck attack to the side of his face. The force sent him toppling over back wards, in slow motion. Allie was disgruntled, and covered her face in her hand, not daring to look at Ignatius whom she could hear chuckling alongside her. She dared not exclaim her true upset in having received the runt of the litter as always for fear of insulting her precious new Bulbasaur, and instead dug her fingernails into her palm with her free hand until it hurt; though it should be mentioned that Almeda is not so self-destructive to have performed this action until she bled.
"Ba! Bulba ba!"[/b] Geb stammered, kicking his stubby legs about, <Damn. That aches!>
"It's okay, Geb! You can do it!"[/b] Almeda forced herself to call, lowering both her arms before shooting Ignatius a dark look. Geb's eyes appeared to light up upon hearing the encouragement and he swiftly rolled over. The young woman then smiled in the direction of her pokemon and watched the Spearow circling overhead. She grit her teeth and when she spoke again did her best to hide the nervousness in her voice, which was not too well, "He'll have to descend for an attack sometime, wait for an opening and Tackle!"
"Ba!"[/b] Geb conceded, <Okay.> Though he was skeptic, and felt very limited as his bulging red eyes watched the spearow. Nevertheless he raised his bum and extended his arms, readying for a pounce.
Meanwhile, Ignatius watched Chili intently, waiting for her to snap out of her fury. Once her hands were back at her sides, the young man knew that she could hear him again, though he did not know if she had been covering her ears, or if she even had ears. Still he had waited, and would wait no longer to entice his first fire-type attack.
"Chili, gather your bearings and stand firm for an Ember attack!"
As the little fire pokemon obeyed, Ignatius felt his heart pounding. He was more than a little excited by the healthy flames that warmed the atmosphere and lapped in the direction of the enemy pokemon.
((Sorry about the wait, I knew you were online, but I am at work and so the chatbox has a big blue warning in it, and I was not able to reply as fast as I thought I might.))

(( It's fine. ^^ )) The Tailow let out an alarm cry and tried to rise in the air, her blue-gray wings flapping frantically. But the flames came too fast and lapped at her feathers, making her land and try to hop away. The robin-like Pokemon landed and did just that, hoping to make a quick retreat. The Spearow, on the other hand, was holding his own. He dove down and back up, faking an attack, a few times, before circling above the trainer's head for a moment. "Spea, spearow! <Go ahead!>" he screeched. "Spearow spear! <Attack me!>" His plan was the pathetic Bulbasaur would be confused and not want to harm his trainer, giving him an opening for another attack. Though he wasn't one for sticking to a plan, the Spearow was ready to try anything in order to win this battle. He wasn't one to run, like his little Tailow friend.

Almeda was slightly uncaring about Geb's inability to attack as she raised her arms above her head in a defensive fashion, unnerved by the Spearow's poor battle etiquette. Even Ignatius' eyes widened as he worried for a moment before he found himself crouching, ready to batter the bird should it try anything. Geb gasped, his fat tongue drooping over his bottom lip, "Saur ..." <You wouldn't?>
He bounced toward Almeda once, to obtain a better view of the situation, but Geb really didn't know how to react to being taunted and was somewhat frozen in his tracks. He did feel conscious of his duty toward his trainer, but was inept as far as battling went, at least so far, and his vines were too young and sensitive to be of any use. He turned again, away from Almeda and focused his previously readied energy to Tackle the Taillow, hoping to drag away its companion.
Chili's mouth hung open as the Bulbasaur crossed her path. She swung her tail in discontent low across the grass and her flames sparkled. The Charmander was enraged that she was cheated out of her opportunity to finish her first battle undaunted. Ignatius saw the opportunity this presented however, and quickly called to Chili pointing his hand in the air, "Quick, Chili, Ember!"
Chili then realized that Geb had unwittingly performed an intelligible battle tactic, as with any luck, the Spearow would double back into any attack she threw. The Charmander tossed her arms back and bellowed a blaze in the direction of the Spearow.
"Char charmander!" <Take this, you bully!> she cried, giggling girlishly in her mind.
"Aiiiii! Be careful!"[/b] Almeda pleaded, readying to fall on her bottom.

An evil gleam shone in the Spearow's eyes, and he squawked, "Spear, spea spearow. <Actually, I would.>" But as the Bulbasaur wandered away, he growled. Flames licked at his feathers, and he let out a loud and obnoxious screech, flying higher. The feathers on his wings felt raw and sore, making it harder for him to fly. In the air, he wavered, but stayed up just enough to land on a nearby branch. After a mere second of rest, he threw himself down, and used Tackle on the Charmander. The Tailow, on the other hand, was bowled over by the Bulbasaur. "Tai! Tail, tai low! <Ow! Knock it off!>" she cried, and landed a few feet away, on her side. She was inexperienced, and hardly knew how to fight. This was the reason why she stayed with the Spearow, even if it risked her being tormented every moment of her existance.
